POOR MAN'S FRUIT CAKE— Cream cup of lard or drippings with two cups of sugar, two eggs, one cup of sour milk, three cups of flour, one teaspoon of cloves, allspice, cinnamon and nutmeg, one pound of raisins, one teaspoon of baking soda in a cup of boiling water or one cup of boiling coffee which will add to the flavor of the cake. Chopped nuts, citron and lemon peel. Bake in a slow oven.
