LEBKUCHEN — Break four eggs into a bowl, add one pound of brown sugar and beat about ten minutes with a wire spoon, add two cups of flour sifted with one teaspoon of baking powder, one teaspoon of cloves, two teaspoons of cinnamon and one teaspoon of nutmeg, beat well, then add one-fourth pound of almonds blanched and chopped. Pour into shallow buttered pan and bake in moderate oven. While hot brush with one cup of confectioner's sugar thinned with warm water. Cut into long, narrow slices.
