To a half bushel of blackberries well mashed, add two ounces of cinnamon, two ounces of cloves and one nutmeg. Pulverize well, rnix and boil slowly about a half hour; then strain or squeeze the juice through flannel and, to each pint of juice, add one half pound of loaf sugar. Boil another half hour, cool and add a half gallon of the best brandy. Dose for an adult, a half gill; for a child, one teaspoon or more according to age.
