Gather the blackberries on a fine day ; put them with the apples; cut small, but not peeled or cored, and water in the above pro- portions into a preserving pan, and boil for an hour or longer until the apples are quite soft. Strain through a jelly bag, and to each pint of juice allow 1 lb. of sugar. Boil again 35 minutes, and cover immediately while hot.
